Prototyping

2012 – Origins as an academic spin-off
X-Phase was founded in 2012 as the natural evolution of a journey that began in the laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Florence. It was not a carefully planned decision, but a spontaneous transition: the desire to bring the rigour of academic research directly into the industrial sector.
Our first technological ‘heartbeat’ was a single-channel ultrasound system for the non-destructive testing of welds. That very first prototype already contained our entire DNA: the challenge of capturing an invisible signal and transforming it into reliable data. From that single circuit board began a process of constant growth that has not yet come to a halt.
Evolution – Ultrasound & GPU Computing
From a single channel to large-scale systems: today we engineer complex systems with up to 256 full TX/RX channels. At the heart of our innovation lies the extreme optimisation of FPGAs, where we implement our beamforming algorithms for real-time signal reconstruction.
By integrating the backend on GPUs, we close the loop between hardware acquisition, computing power and visualisation capabilities. Our commitment does not end with delivery: we constantly update our architectures to ensure our customers have a strategic time horizon.
Power – Industrial Induction
Starting with the challenge of developing the first 4kW systems for the automotive service sector, we have evolved our technology to the point where we now design high-frequency 25kW machines.
We do not limit ourselves to control electronics: we design efficient power concentrators, optimising every single watt thanks to the experience we have gained directly in the field. We know how to manage high power and medium frequencies to transform induction into a precision industrial tool.
